HONORS 110

DESCRIPTIVE REFLECTION

DOCUMENTATION

Every Friday, I attended the Gateway to University Honors class with about 30 other students from various majors. I entered class being familiar with only two students, but by the time the semester was over, I would associate with four of my peers regularly outside of class. Additionally, I learned all the facets of what it means to be a University of Cincinnati honors student, and what I can expect to show for it at the end of my five years here.

Throughout the semester course, much time was spent in stimulated group discussion and other means of reflection. These opportunities to consider activities outside of my industrial design major allowed me to broaden my college goals to involve my passions for travel, children, and the handicapped.  I gained the means to voice my thoughts and share my experiences publically via a personal website.

During the next five years, I will use the steps I learned in Gateway to propose and complete honors experiences, update my learning portfolio with valuable information about my personal growth and involvement, and participate in events which go beyond the college scene. I hope to maintain relationships with those I met through Honors 110, and take pride in being a member of the UHP.

ARTIFACTS

The Timeline captures an overview of the last 4 years of my life, delving into the events which I deem most significant in terms of personal growth and constructive experience. It was an important exercise in reflection and logging.

The Passion paper dissects my varied interests and activities which give me joy in life outside of the DAAP. During my years at UC, I will be able to involve my passions in worthwhile activities which benefit the community. It helped me to cement in my mind what I would like to accomplish in my college years and gave me direction for Honors Experiences.

The Proposal documents my first Honors Experience in which I will be participating during the summer of 2015. It also expresses my passion for the handicapped. The draft allowed me to practice writing effective proposals which will allow me to get the most out of my honors enrollment.
