Design in Korea: Week 6

Location: KAIST Campus, Daejeon

The newly constructed entrance way for the southwest mechanical engineering wing features an intriguing lighting design which appears to levitate the ceiling to let light flood into the hall. Every surface is textured with vertical wooden panels, including the doors. Korean design does an excellent job of using warm and natural tones paired with bright whites to make more sterile-looking technology appear welcoming and sensitive. I might even be convinced to use a warm grey in my next tech project.
